A MAN'S car was struck with an axe and a club hammer while he was driving in Sandhurst.

At around 9am on Wednesday, August 28, a blue Ford Focus was being driven on Swan Lane.

A white Ford Transit van pulled out in front of the vehicle, forcing the driver of the Focus to brake and sound his horn.

The van then stopped and a man, thought to be a passenger of the van, got out and struck the victim's windscreen with an axe.

The victim then drove off onto Yorktown Road.

He was held up at a red light at Rackstraws crossroads when the passenger of the van then struck the car window with a club hammer.

The victim, a man in his thirties, then drove off. He was not injured during the incident.

A 33-year-old man from Fleet, Hampshire, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries are ongoing.

Investigating officer, PC Matthew Gordon based at Lodden Valley police station, said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this incident.
