DRIVERS could be in for disrupted journeys when 34 weeks of construction begin on April 10.

Workers building a new traffic light junction forming part of the Winnersh Relief Road break ground next Monday.

Although the impact on traffic will be minimal for the first five weeks, come mid May temporary traffic lights and potential full road closure will force drivers on King Street Lane and Longdon Road to put the brakes on.

Once the new junction at King Street Lane is completed, work is due to begin on August 7 on a new traffic light junction at Lower Earley Way North - also part of the Winnersh Relief Road project.

This is also expected to take about 17 weeks and will see single lane closures with traffic lights and a possible full closure for surfacing.

In both cases no traffic management will be used during rush hour.
