A SPORTS person is being investigated by Thames Valley Police (TVP) over allegations he knowingly infected a partner with HIV.
The international player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given a formal written notice stating it is a criminal offence to pass on the virus, The Sun reported this morning.
The police enquiry began when the partner contacted TVP after the pair broke up, it is alleged.
She claimed to have found anti-viral tablets used to treat the condition in the sport star's bag, prompting a visit to the clinic where she was told she had HIV.
A TVP spokesperson said: “We are investigating an incident of grievous bodily harm.
“This relates to an alleged offence between December 2013 and June 2014.
“No one has been arrested and inquiries are ongoing.”
TVP covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
