Bela Hegedus, of Easthampstead Golf Club, has been selected to represent the England Deaf Seniors Mens Team, who are currently competing in the World Deaf Championships in Hawaii.

Mr Hegedus will compete as an individual as well as a member of the five-man England team where three of the five cards count towards the team championship.

Mr Hegedus earnt his place by finishing sixth in the England Deaf Golf Order of Merit for 2022.

England Deaf said when announcing the team that after “an exhaustive selection process, which considered many factors such as form, handicaps, ability, ambition, mental fortitude, England Deaf Golf have selected the very best golfers to represent us in Wailua, Hawaii for the World Deaf Golf Championships 2022.”

In addition to Mr Hegedus' success, EGC's Kaylan Gonzalez won the NAPGC Junior National Championship (with previous winners including 2016 Masters winner Danny Willet).

Additionally, Oscar Brown, Amile Clarkin and Robyn Mears qualified for the English Junior championships. Amrit Hira and qualified for the Champions of Champions championship held at Woodhill Spa. They are all to be congratulated on their achievement.

There was further success in the National Seniors Pairs Knock Out competition held this month, where EGC members Harjinder Chana and Avtar Mudhar finished runners up with Terry Kennewell and David Gillham finishing third.

In the NAPGC championship held recently at Celtic Manor, Pete Toomey came second in Division One, losing narrowly on countback.

Also representing EGC was Martin Newport, Tony Newson and Bobby David.
