The Liberal Democrats made gains at the local elections to deprive the Conservatives of an overall majority. 

The council now has no party in overall control of the local authority; however, the Conservatives remain the largest represented party. 

Of the 18 seats up for election, the Liberal Democrats won nine, the Conservatives six, Labour two and the Independents one.

Eleven were previously held by the Conservatives, four by the Liberal Democrats, one by Labour, one by the Independent Group and one was vacant. 

The 54 council seats are now made up of 26 Conservatives, 23 Liberal Democrats, three Labour and two Independents.
