Hundreds of runners dressed in Santa costumes took part in the annual festive Santa Dash after it was cancelled last year during the pandemic.

The annual fun run attracted 600 people dressed in Santa suits, reindeer antlers, and their own Christmas creations to Swinley Forest in Bracknell on Sunday, December 5.

People ran or walked either 2k, 5k or a 10k course through the forest in aid of Thames Hospice.

Alison Evans, head of community and events fundraising, said: “Our annual Santa Dash is always such a great event which kicks off the Christmas season. We really missed not being able to host it last year due to coronavirus restrictions, so it felt extra special to get our community together again for one of our favourite festive events.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere and the sea of red Santa suits was a sight to behold. Thank you to everyone who signed up and fundraised for us; the support we’ve been shown has been truly amazing. for the Hospice.

“Thank you also to our incredible volunteers who carried out important duties, including registering our Santa Dashers and marshalling around the course - we couldn’t have done it without their loyal support.”

Thames Hospice supporters have managed to raise a massive £35,000 for the charity.

After the dash, Thames Hospice supporters soaked up the festive atmosphere whilst warming up with some delicious refreshments.

Santa’s grotto was open for the children who received presents donated by Tesco in Dedworth, and wonderful raffle prizes were up for grabs which were kindly donated by Waitrose in Windsor and Slough Ice Arena.
