Local primary school, Winkfield St. Mary’s has raised an incredible £1504.44 this weekend as part of the Windsor Lions Annual Swimathon.
26 children from the school, aged between 4-11 years old participated in the event and achieved an amazing 252 lengths between them. After a tough 18 months due to Covid, the Swimathon has been the first major fundraising event for the school.

The school entered three teams, who were required to swim the 25-metre-long pool non-stop for 55 minutes. Setting a target of £1200 (higher than previous years) the school smashed its target at a total of 125%.
Stephanie May, Chair of the PTA said, “It’s been incredible to see how well the children supported each other, we’re so proud of them all.

"Each year group had at least one representative and they worked together throughout the event, from those younger children who needed flotation devices, to those who now swim at competition level.
"We’re delighted by the support of our school’s PTA, staff members, family and friends to achieve such a huge amount of money, which will go towards developing one of the school’s outside area facilities.”
