The Aldi store in Bracknell has applied to sell alcohol all through the day.

The supermarket in the Birch Hill shopping precinct in Liscombe has submitted a licensing application to sell alcohol from 6am to midnight each day in order to facilitate ‘seasonal sales’.

The Aldi is currently open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and from 9.30am to 4pm on Sundays.

An identical licensing application has been submitted for the Aldi in Yorktown Road, Sandhurst.

The Aldi in Sandhurst is open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

Curiously, the company has not applied for longer opening hours, but the extensions to the alcohol sales have been applied to facilitate seasonal sales.

A spokesman said: “There are no plans to make permanent changes to the opening hours of our Liscombe, Bracknell or Yorktown Road stores. The licensing applications are to give stores flexibility during seasonal periods.”

The store in Sandhurst was converted into an Aldi after Waitrose closed there in 2019, with it reopening as an Aldi on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

The two licensing applications will be considered by the the Public Protection Partnership, which handles licensing issues in the Bracknell Forest Council area.
