LANDLORDS for a community pub in Bracknell have thanked residents for supporting them recently, after vandals smashed in their windows for the second time this year.

Mr and Mrs Powell, landlords at the Newton Pippin, Harmans Water Bracknell, released a plea for financial help after the pubs windows were smashed in by vandals - this was for the second time since the landlords acquired the keys to the pub back in March this year.

Police confirmed to the News that a report was made on the matter to them on Friday, June 25.

Last week, landlady Vikki Powell launched a GoFundMe page to help purchase security cameras for the pub - since then however, a local security man has given the pub cameras free of charge.

The pub owners are now seeking to use the funds to buy steel shutters, in order to ensure the security of the building.

Bracknell News:

When asked how the community has responded to the pub's plea, Mrs Powell said: "It's been amazing. We've had an incredible response.

"The community has rallied around us - The outpour of the comments, people have handed us flowers and money.

"Everyone has wanted a community pub for so long, and they're so grateful for what we've done, they were almost embarrassed - "please don't think its everyone here" - as we are new to the area, but the people have been amazing honestly - it makes it worthwhile."
