A PUB in Bracknell has had to plea for funds after its windows were smashed-in overnight, for the second time since March this year.

The landlords at The Newtown Pippin, Harmans Water, announced on Instagram that when they woke up today (June 25), they had found one of the windows of their pub had been smashed.

This is not the first time this has happened to the married couple however - since taking over the pub in March this year, the windows were reportedly vandalised during the week pubs reopened in April, following the winter lockdown

Vicki Powell, Landlady for The Newton Pippin, said: "As many of our locals know, my husband Simon and I took over the run-down Newtown Pippin in Harmans Water.

"We got the keys on March 2, 2021 and never looked back.

Bracknell News:

"It’s been a heck of a journey and we were down to our last £100 when we opened the doors on March 26 for takeaway coffees.

"We have put our heart and souls into it and the local community have been incredible.

"On the Friday evening of our opening week someone decided to put-through our windows!

"Due to it being an act of vandalism, we had to pay out of our own funds, which we have struggled to do but managed. Then today we woke up to strike two."

Responding to this, the Landlords started a GoFundMe page to help install stronger security cameras for the building.

The fundraising page has already raised £990, of the £2,000 target, in just seven hours since it was started.

Mrs Powell added: "We have cameras, but it appears they have been blocked during our attack.

"This time they have smashed our brand new doors, fitted last week, and three windows in addition.

"Many people asked us the first time to set up a page, but to be honest, pride got the better of us. This time though we really need your help.

"We would like to try and make enough money to buy a state-of-the-art security system to catch them out."

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police confirmed the incident was reported to them this morning, saying: "Offender or offenders have smashed the French door window panes at the Newtown Pippin, Ralphs Ride believed to be in the early hours of this morning.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"We would ask anyone  with information to please call 101 quoting reference 43210279456 or if they wish to report anonymously they can do so via the independent Charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
