From almost 300 names put forward, the final list was whittled down to ten for the community to choose from.

Bracknell Forest Council has today (January 19) finally revealed the names of the new food waste trucks.

They are:

  • Dame Foodie Dench (after British actress Dame Judi Dench)
  • The Food Dude
  • Binderella (after fairytale princess Cinderella)
  • Truck Norris (after American actor Chuck Norris)
  • Hank Marvin (which is Cockney rhyming slang for ‘starving’)

Each vehicle will now have their name printed on the front for residents to see.

Cllr Mrs Dorothy Hayes MBE, executive member for environment, said: “We have been through each and every suggestion sent to us and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter and to vote, we are thrilled with the new names and hope everyone in the community agrees.

“It has been wonderful involving locals in Bracknell Forest to help us name our new trucks in this way and I cannot wait to see them take to the road in the next few months with their personalised livery.

“The state of the art trucks will be working hard for years to come collecting food waste recycling as part of the new service. We are really looking forward to the launch of food waste collections and I’d encourage every household to take part.”

The new food waste service will get started on Monday, March 1, with five new trucks set to help bin men collect the borough’s leftovers.
