Families can enjoy a spooktacular Scarecrow trail this half-term week.

A mum and registered childminder wanted to keep the Binfield community spirit alive by organising a traditional village Scarecrow trail.

The event has seen more than 45 households design and make scarecrows around the Temple Park estate, which residents can find until Sunday, November 1.

Tracy Devlin said: "I proposed the idea to another childminder on my estate who agreed it was an activity that would bring our neighbours together but also allow the wider community to get involved. "It was something the whole family could do together in a safe way, but also by asking for voluntary donations we were able to raise funds for Sebastian's Action Trust, as they are unable to do any fundraising themselves at this time."

The Scarecrow trail has already proven successful with a flurry of visitors over the weekend.

Tracy added: "I was overwhelmed by the number of families that have taken part and created some amazing scarecrows and the people who have come along and taken part.

"We have received such lovely comments and positive feedback, which makes it all worthwhile.

"I’m always looking for activities to keep the little ones entertained particularly in the school holidays.

"I have also been running a scrub hub which I set up back in April. It has made me realise what an amazing community we live in and how local people Have rallied to help others during this pandemic."

To take part in the trail you can pick up a map for a minimum donation of £1 from 18 Culvercroft or 2 Blount Crescent.

All proceeds help Sebastian's Action Trust, which offers respite holidays to very sick children and their families enabling precious time to be spent together.
