BRACKNELL’S MP has vowed to ‘find a solution’ to Wildridings’ McDonald’s traffic and parking problems.

Pictures showed drivers were not ‘lovin’ it’ as huge queues spilt out on to the main road when the popular fast-food restaurant’s drive-thru re-opened last week.

Bracknell News:

The Keep site, based next to Mill Park just off Wildridings Road, has experienced parking and traffic issues for a number of years.

In 2018, a new drive-thru booth was added to the restaurant to help ease traffic flows, but videos on social media appeared last week showing big queues are still an issue.

James Sunderland, Bracknell’s MP, visited the store last week and grabbed a quarter pounder and chips.

He met owner Atul Pathak to discuss the traffic problems the site faces.

Bracknell News:

Mr Sunderland told the News: “It was great to see the staff want to come back and working effectively with PPE. Thank you to them.

“I am aware of the long traffic queues and feel the angst of local residents.

“Better access to the site and more parking is needed.

“I will endeavour to work with the council to find a solution.”

Bracknell Forest Council was contacted for comment regarding the queuing dilemma, and the authority's transport boss responded to the News.

Neil Matthews, Head of Highways and Transport, said: “We are aware of some queuing at the McDonalds site in Wildridings following its reopening at the end of last week.

Bracknell News:

"This situation is similar to many other drive-through restaurants across the country which are experiencing an increase in visitors.

"Along with the police, we are monitoring the situation to ensure it is safe for everyone, and will continue to do so while the increased numbers are reported.”.

The News spoke to a few hungry diners who waited in line for their fries and chicken nuggets last week.

Kelly Foster, who queued for 40 minutes to get her Big Mac meal, said the queues were “chaos!”

She added: “[We] got there before it opened.

“[I] haven't had one for three months and it felt like another part of life restarting."

Another said: “It’s all part of feeling ‘normal’ again for many people. No judgement here...I just couldn’t be bothered to queue."
