Despite this, her 83-year-old mum Shirley sadly lost her life to Covid-19 after being admitted to Frimley Park Hospital at the same time as each other six weeks ago.

Although feeling fatigued after returning from hospital on Saturday, April 25, Vicki spoke to the Bracknell News to share her experience and to urge people to take the government advice to stay inside.

She said: "It is the most horrendous thing that has ever happened to me. I fell ill really quickly on the Saturday and then on Sunday I couldn't get up. I had a triage call with the cardiac department at Frimley Park and the doctor who said I should ring 111 and they sent a blue lighted ambulance and took me to the hospital.

"I was sat in a self-isolation room for two days and the test result came back as positive. I was then placed in the intensive care unit (ITU) and was on ventilation. When you are really really poorly and so close to death, I was not even aware of messaging my family. You are really not aware of what is going on."

The doctors explained to her daughter Tasha that her mum was "defying everything" and that she had "plateaued".

Luckily, she managed to make a recovery but Vicki is wanting people to take coronavirus more seriously, because "never in a million years" did she think it would affect her and her family.

She said: "Please stay at home. Think to yourself do you really need to take the trip in the car to get some bread. Just pop out once a week if you can. My children and grandchildren's life is so precious to me and I want to be their in their development of life."

Her sister Katie Sutton who works as a nurse at Slough walk-in centre, added: "At such a sad but joyful time, mum went so Vicki could live. She's been given a second chance and I want to emphasise that Covid-19 can tough everyone."
