OLEGS Lascenko has become the latest player to leave Bracknell Bees, writes Dave Wright.

The 19-year-old Latvian forward is moving to National League South rivals London Raiders.

Lascenko joined Bees last season, notching eight goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances.

He joins the list of players to depart The Hive including Lukas Smital, Josh Tetlow, David Gaborcik and Martin Pavlicek.

However, Bees’s new head coach Scott Spearing could now see prospective new recruits knocking on his door as Chelmsford Chieftains, Oxford City Stars and Solent Devils have all withdrawn from the National League in the past week.

The league’s management committee said: “This is a dark day for the NIHL and no doubt the repercussions of this issue will be felt for some time to come.

“After our meeting on May 7, where the league was in such a positive place, it is desperately disappointing to see this happen.

“We would like to thank all three clubs for what they have brought to NIHL 1 over the years and they will be truly missed.”

It is possible, however, they will be asked to drop down to NIHL 2.

“This will be considered by the LMC in the coming days and a full statement will be made at that time to include the agreed structure for NIHL 1 and NIHL 2 in the South,” the league’s statement continued.

The three teams withdrew when the league decided to change from their originally planned format of splitting into two divisions – which the clubs unanimously agreed to earlier this month - into just one league.
