A Bracknell Boxing Club has expressed concerns for the future of its town centre premises following the imminent regeneration of the area housing the club.

The Ring ABC provides a vital service to young people, teaching them valuable life experiences and life skills such as discipline through regular exercise.

With many of their amateur boxers returning from international competitions and coaches connected to Sports England, the club is seeking support from the community to help them retain a town centre boxing club in the next two years.

Although the car park demolition needs to take place for safety improvements, it has put The Ring ABC in a precarious position.

June Corriette, a trustee of the club and co-owner of the Acoustic Couch said: “Our club serves as a haven for young people, providing them with valuable life skills such as discipline and promoting both mental and physical health through the sport of boxing. Our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to keep kids off the streets and provide them with opportunities for personal growth and development.

“It's important to note that The Ring ABC is a registered charity, having gained charitable status in 2017.

“Over the years, we have become an integral part of the Bracknell community, fostering strong ties and offering a vital, affordable, and reliable service. We firmly believe that maintaining our central location in the town centre is crucial to preserving the community bonds we have forged.

“Our club is not just a facility; it's a pillar of support for the people of Bracknell, and it has become an essential part of the town's identity.

“The services we provide are a testament to our commitment to the well-being of our community, and we humbly request your assistance in ensuring our continued presence in the heart of Bracknell.”

Although The Ring has already been offered an alternative home in Harmans Water, they have emphasised the importance of a town centre location.

The alternative location outside the centre may pose certain challenges for current and potential future members.

This may include transport accessibility, parking and lack of central location which makes the club accessible.

The charity added: “We kindly invite you to visit The Ring ABC and witness first-hand the critical role we play in the community.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the club raise money to begin their journey to affording a new location within the town centre.
