Royals manager Veljko Paunovic has admitted that he remains in the dark about his future at the club.

Paunovic has become the first Royals boss since Jaap Stam to start and finish the season in the hotseat but he has confirmed that he isn't 100 per cent whether he will remain in position as the season draws to a close.

When asked whether he is confident he'll be the manager on the opening day of the 2021/22 season, the Serbian boss said:"First of all, I want to thank everyone who wants me to continue.

"I want to thank the ownership that has given me this opportunity and let me finish the season at least.

"Moving forward, I do not know the answer of whether I'm going to be here - but I definitely want to be.

"I am doing everything that I can and preparing for the next season.

"All the players will know when they have to come back and the expectations I have for when they come back.

"We will follow up with everyone who is getting their own fitness and tactical plans.

"Part of our plans is also to rest the players because of the severity of the season.

"Every 4 days or so there has been a game. The guys need to rest.

"That rest is very important.

"We are preparing for coming back and to have an even better season next year.

"We are already planning a pre-season trip to Scotland, we already have some games in place.

"We have the blueprint of our pre-season.

"These logistics are what we are working on, we're planning for the future with a lot of expectations."
