Here are our player ratings from Reading's 2-0 home victory over Barnsley in the Championship.

Rafael - 7

Produced a stunning stop in the first half from Frieser's header as Barnsley looked to take the lead. Had a slightly hairy moment in the second half when he bewildering managed to drop an easy ball, but otherwise solid.

Omar Richards - 8

Dug Reading out of a few tight spaces in the first half as the visitors pressed high and attacked at will throughout, producing some lovely passing.

Liam Moore - 8

Impressive from the skipper. His communication was top drawer, as was his positioning. Led by example and even contributed to the attacks with some lovely balls in behind.

Michael Morrison - 6

Guilty in the first half of being rushed in possession and giving the ball away cheaply but improved as the game went on. Tracked his men well in the first half and provided an option for the midfielders well in the second.

Felipe Araruna - 7

Araruna certainly looks to be growing in confidence and produced another solid display. Certainly improving on the overlap.

Josh Laurent - 5

Struggled to cope with the physical and energetic approach of the Barnsley midfield in the first half and surrendered possession too easily at points.

John Swift - 5

Swift blew a bit hot and cold, often failing to keep possession of the ball with slack control. On the flip side - he did produce a number of delicious long balls which gave the forwards something to chase.

Ovie Ejaria - 6

Occasionally guilty of taking a bit too long to move the ball, especially as opportunities for Reading to break - especially in the first half. He improved as the game progressed and was perhaps unlucky not to score late on.

Michael Olise - 7

Scored an absolutely stunning goal in the second half which perhaps papered over the cracks after a bit of a poor showing in the first half. He lost a lot of physical battles, but certainly more than made up for it!

Lucas Joao - 6

Made a number of good runs in the first half but failed to create any opportunities of note for himself. One such run led to the first red card, whcih changed the game in Reading's favour.

SUBS

Yakou Meite - 8

Scored on his return to the team and changed the game after he was brought off the bench. He looked a constant threat and exposed the gaps in the Barnsley perfectly.

Sone Aluko - 5

Came on late on and produced one lovely run and cross on the left wing.

George Puscas - 5

Got on the ball and looked to create but spurned a good opportunity after being set through by Ejaria.
