Reading FC fell to a frustrating 2-1 defeat against Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening at the Madejski Stadium.

Here are our player ratings.

Rafael - 6

Could do little about both goals - with each of them being tidy finishes. Commanded his area well in the air and made some good saves, especially in the second half.

Gabriel Osho - 6

Got forward and whipped in some delicious deliveries. Defended astutely for long periods.

Michael Morrison - 5

In the air, Morrison was as we have become accustomed too - commanding and strong. Put his body on the line but rushed a number of clearances which gifted Boro the ball back.

Tom Mcintyre - 5

For the first time since he came into the side, Mcintyre looked a little shaky at the back and with some of his passes. His positional play wasn't fantastic and he needed to get closer to the runners.

Tyler Blackett - 4

Not the best from Blackett who didn't create much from the left hand side and switched off at key moments defensively.

Andy Rinomhota - 5

Average at best from Rinomhota who did the ugly stuff well but was slow in transition and never looked to take risks.

Liam Moore - 6

Returned with a well taken goal and could've had a couple more. Made a real nuisance offensively and did okay when breaking up the play in the middle of the pitch.

Yakou Meite - 4

Spurned a good headed opportunity and went missing for long periods of the game. Needed to get into the area more and try and get on the end of Osho's deliveries.

Michael Olise - 6

Slick, composed and calm on the ball - Olise continued to show off his best attributes. But, without much end product, those attributes will be sadly wasted - as they were today.

John Swift - 5

Came close after a rasping shot smashed the woodwork in the first half which could've made the game a much tougher proposition for Boro. Faded in the second half and was too easily over-ran by the visiting midfield.

George Puscas - 3

Was never really involved as yet again Bowen decided to play him in the lone role that didn't suit him. No shortage of effort.

SUBS

Garath McCleary - 3

Came on but failed to make an impression.

Timbe Masika - 2

Ran a lot, that was essentially it. Blazed a shot over at the end which summed his showing up.

Sam Baldock - 3

Much like Puscas, plenty of energy, but nothing to show for it.

Jordan Obita - 4

Came in to fill in at left back and didn't do much wrong.
