Here are our player ratings from Reading's 1-0 triumph over Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Rafael - 6

Was a little fortunate to see the linesman raise his flag when Charlton had the ball in the back of the net. Other than that did pretty well with the offensive onslaught for long periods.

Gabriel Osho - 7

Pegged back and couldn't show his offensive prowess as much as we've seen in previous games but he did defend well.

Michael Morrison - 8

Powerful, confident and authorative. Put his body on the line to ensure Reading didn't concede and won most balls in the air.

Tom Mcintyre - 7

Put some great challenges in to win the ball back as Charlton pressed but could've perhaps taken a touch or two more in possession instead of rushing to clear the danger.

Tyler Blackett - 6

Allowed a lot of crosses to come in from Charlton's right hand side but got forward and supported Olise with some nice overlapping runs.

Pele - 5

Looked a little jaded during the first half and lost a bit of focus, as well as the ball, on a couple of occassions. Below the high standards he has set this season.

John Swift - 6

Passed the ball relatively well but wearing the armband, he needed to do more to organize those in the middle of the pitch with Reading frequently being over-ran by Charlton's high press.

Andy Rinomhota - 5

Relatively average. Did well to win the early penalty but disrupted the flow of the game with a series of niggly fouls.

Michael Olise - 4

Failed to influence the game from the left hand side with any authority.

Yakou Meite - 5

Didn't really impress me, he hassled and harried the ball for the ball but with little end product. Needed to do more to make runs in behind and force this issue.

George Puscas - 6

Had ice in his veins as he stepped up to slam Reading into an early lead but after that he was often short of service and struggled to make his mark consistently on the game.

SUBS

Jordan Obita - 3

Struggled to get into many dangerous positions and wasted numerous promising set pieces.

Sam Baldock - 4

Left with the thankless task of chasing the Charlton back line as Reading defended in numbers.

Richards - 4

Much like the man he replaced, Richards didn't really do much to stamp his authority on the game but provided fresh lungs to chase down the home side.

Liam Moore - 6

The best of the subs. Provided some additional steel and physicality in the middle as he played in an unorthodox holding role.

Chris Gunter - 5

Defended relatively competently and helped Reading see out the win.
