Here are our player ratings from Reading's 2-1 defeat away at Derby County.

Rafael - 5

Uncharacteristically shaky at times and really struggled with his distribution, especially in the first half. Could do little about Lawrence's goal or Rooney's penalty.

Chris Gunter - 6

Got forward well, especially in the second half, to support the Reading attack. Defensively positioned himself well during the game and was in the right place to make key challeges.

Liam Moore - 4

Didn't show the leadership that we know he has in his locker and conceded a very cheap penalty shortly after Lawrence's opener.

Matt Miazga - 4

Perhaps a harsh score on paper, after a relatively strong performance, but his red card may have serious implications should he be out for the next three games.

To make matters worse, he was sent off after the final whistle - which, even if he was wound up by Lawrence, was poor from him.

Omar Richards - 5

Left very exposed in the first half with Bogle continually causing him trouble on the wing.

As Reading grew into the game and attacked more, Richards improved, but not enough to earn more than a rating of 5.

Andy Rinomhota - 7

Was energetic in the middle of the park and did the ugly side of the game well, as he usually does.

Scored a very smart and instinctive header to get Reading back into the game.

John Swift - 4

A bit of a quiet afternoon from Swift, who needed to do more to take the game to Derby - especially in the second half.

Yakou Meite - 5

No shortage of effort from Meite who worked tirelessly to try and make something happen on the wing for Reading but ultimately he had little to show for his efforts on the day.

Michael Olise - 6

Skillfull with his control of the ball but occasionally made the wrong decision as he looked to cap off fine surges forward.

Ovie Ejaria - 6

Much like Olise, Ejaria was purposeful and tried to produce the unexpected to unlock the Derby defence and nearly scored with an audacious effort from the byline.

Guilty on occasion however of slowing the play down for no good reason.

George Puscas - 4

Should've at least worked the goalkeeper with Reading's best chance of the game. Otherwise a real lack of service for Puscas who is still not being played to his strengths for me.

SUBS

Sam Baldock - 5

Provided a fresh pair of legs and was full of running without much of a final result.

Garath McCleary - 6

Took the game to Derby and drove at the defence more than once, getting into really dangerous positions on the right wing.

Neither Masika or Obita played long enough to give a fair rating.
