Here are our player ratings from Reading’s turnaround triumph against Birmingham City.
Rafael - 7
Left with little chance for Birmingham’s opener after a poor defensive header. Commanded his area well throughout and looked dominant in the air. Didn’t face a barrage of shots on target, but dealt with the danger when required.
Andy Yiadom - 5
Struggled to deal with the direct nature of Bellingham in the opening 45 but recovered when Reading grew into the game after the break.
Matt Miazga - 7
Scored a sensational leveler in the second half after his error gifted Birmingham the chance to go ahead. Didn’t let the error effect him and produced a strong showing at the heart of the defence.
Michael Morrison - 8
The former Birmingham man showed the home supporters what they’ve lost with a brilliant, commanding defensive display. A colossus at the back.
Omar Richards - 6
Defensively, Richards dealt with most of the attacks on the left hand side. He was a little ineffective going forward but he played well all-in-all.
John Swift - 6
His second half performance deserves a higher score, but his first half showing was far from the best we’ve seen. He came out for the second half with much more intent and drive.
Ovie Ejaria - 4
A rather quiet afternoon from Ejaria who went missing for long periods. He showed flashes of neat control but didn’t sustain that.
Needs to do more to grab a hold of the game in the midfield when Reading are behind, he has the talent to do so.
Michael Olise - 5
Much like Ejaria, Olise’s afternoon was a rather quiet one. He didn’t do much wrong but he failed to stand out in the same way we’ve seen on numerous occasions since his breakthrough.
George Puscas - 8
No goals but a brilliant centre forward display from Puscas. His hold up play was really effective, he was always on the move and looking to get a step ahead of the defender and provided an outlet throughout.
Yakou Meite - 7
Deserved his goal for another good performance up front. Worked the defence well and battled for every single header and loose ball.
SUBS
Liam Moore - 6
Came on to help Reading hold the lead and did just that effectively. Looked solid.
Pele - 7
Produced a real strikers finish to put the gloss on the scoreline late on with a sumptuous curled effort into the bottom corner.
Garath McCleary - 6
Started a few dangerous breaks as Birmingham were pushing to level.
