SOUTH Berkshire men saw their MBBO Regional Two title hopes all but ended after they slipped to a 3-2 home defeat to Wycombe 2nds, writes Richard Ashton.

Kaya Campion and Harrison Scott were on target for the hosts, but a Matthew Yates brace and an Alex Hinde strike ensured Wycombe took all three points.

South Berkshire are now five points adrift of table-topping Sonning, with the first of their three remaining games at the leaders on Saturday (10.30am).

Paul Kaplanski slammed in a hat-trick for Division Two trailblazers South Berkshire 2nds, inspiring them to a 7-2 rout of hosts Ashford 2nds.

It took Kaplanski's tally for the season to an impressive 25 goals, and with Daniel Ray, Des Sanders and Mike Baylis (2) also on target, South Berkshire enjoyed a comfortable victory.

Chris Taylor and Paul Tickner provided the consolation efforts for Ashford.

In Division Three, South Berkshire 3rds shared the spoils 2-2 with Henley 3rds, while South Berkshire 4ths went down 3-1 to Reading Rascals in Division Seven.

South Berkshire Terriers climbed to second in the Division Eight West standings with a 4-2 home win against fellow title hopefuls Oxford 8ths.

Matt Humphrey gave Terriers an 11th-minute lead with a powerful finish, but the visitors hit back to ensure they went into the interval level at 1-1.

Tony Heaver put South Berkshire back in front early in the second period, smashing home from a penalty corner.

The home side effectively put the game to bed with two further goals in as many minutes midway through the half, Humphrey doubling his tally before Heaver again netted from a penalty corner.

Oxford managed to pull a goal back with 15 minutes remaining, but South Berkshire held on for a five success.

Their sixth consecutive win leaves Terriers two points behind leaders Reading Rovers, but with a game in hand.

South Berkshire ladies moved up to eighth in Premier Division One of the Trysports Three Counties League following a 2-1 home victory against Oxford 2nds.

South Berkshire travel to Newbury & Thatcham on Saturday (2pm).

Second-bottom South Berkshire 2nds were beaten 5-0 at high-flying Oxford University 2nds in Premier Division Two, but South Berkshire 3rds went goal crazy in thrashing Reading Rebels 9-0 in Division Two.

Mary King, Erin Begley, Safeeyah Rashid, Maddie Scott and Sandra Dodington were all on the scoresheet for Berkshire.

In Division Five, South Berkshire 4ths played out a 0-0 draw with Maidenhead 5ths.
