CHESHAM United extended their lead at the top in the BetVictor Southern Premier South after a 2-2 draw at Harrow Borough on Saturday.

The match at the Earlsmead Stadium was one of just two games to go ahead in the division as Storm Dennis washed out the remainder of the programme – including the fixture between Beaconsfield Town and Hartley Witney.

Harrow broke the deadlock with their first attack in the game as the ball evaded several Chesham defenders on a soggy pitch and the wind looped the finish from Michael Bryan over keeper Ben Goode on 35 minutes.

The Generals equalised four minutes into the second half as a shot from Bradley Clayton was deflected and Dave Pearce nipped in to lob the ball over the keeper.

The visitors got their noses in front when Karl Oliyide swung the ball out to Clayton who beat his man and chipped the keeper in the 67th minute.

Their lead did not last long however as Harrow levelled the scores through Shaun Preddie less than 10 minutes later.

The draw means Chesham are now three points clear at the top but the five teams immediately below them have all played at least two games fewer.

The Generals now turn their attention to the League Cup and a semi final tie at home against Needham Market from the Premier Division Central on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Beaconsfield Town return to action with a visit to Holloways Park from eighth-in-the-table Poole Town this Saturday (3pm).
