KENSLEY Maloney has become the latest player to leave Bracknell Town for Binfield, writes Dave Wright.

The midfielder was captaining the Robins last month and scored his first goal of the season in their 4-1 win at Ashford in early January, but in recent games he became frustrated at being left on the subs' bench.

And late last week Maloney, who had rejoined Town in November from Southern League Premier Division South side Harrow Borough, announced on social media: "I've decided to move on and just wanted to say a thank you to Bracknell Town especially the fans who show me ridiculous amounts of love!"

Commenting on the transfer, Robins manager Bobby Wilkinson said: "Kensley is a fantastic lad and I didn't want him to go, but he just wants to play football and not fight for his place with us."

Maloney made his debut for Binfield last Saturday when they defeated Holmer Green 2-1 to maintain their excellent run of form in the Premier Division.

Bracknell News:

Like they had when defeating Flackwell Heath 5-1 the previous Monday, the Moles had to come from behind with the visitors taking a 15th-minute lead through Matthew Hatt.

But once again it did not take them long to get on level terms with Josh Helmore scoring his 25th Hellenic League goal of the season from the same number of appearances, making him the second-highest scorer in the division.

What turned out to be Binfield's winner, came in the 32nd minute with Asa Povey marking his birthday with a goal.

Bracknell News:

Manager Roger Herridge described it as "another valuable win," while admitting: "We didn’t fire on all cylinders, but let’s give credit to the opposition who were dogged, disciplined and well organised.

"We never ever looked like losing and most importantly we did what we needed to get all three points."

Binfield, who remain third in the standings with 40 points from 17 games, trail leaders Westfields by 18 points and second-placed Fairford by three points with five and two games respectively in hand.

Herridge's men are home again this Friday (7.45pm) when they host sixth-placed Burnham and next Tuesday (7.30pm) they visit mid-table Easington Sports at Addison Road in Banbury.

Wokingham & Emmbrook made it three Division One East wins in a row by defeating Long Crendon 3-1 at Lowther Road.

Earlier in the week, they had won 2-0 at fellow top-four side Milton United with goals from Chris Byrne and Josh Harris.

On Saturday, they went behind to a James Hawkes strike in the 10th minute, but Luke Scope rounded off a good move to equalise and Harris then put Sumas into the lead with his fifth goal in as many games.

The visitors looked dangerous in attack, but found keeper Sean Woodward in top form and their hopes of leaving with a point were ended when Nick Bateman headed home a corner for Wokingham's third goal.

Sumas, now unbeaten in six league and cup games, are home to second-bottom Langley this Saturday.
