A FIRST-HALF goal from Josh Harris was sufficient to earn Wokingham & Emmbrook a 1-0 win over Kidlington Development in their Hellenic League game at Lowther Road on Saturday.

It took the Sumas a little time to get into their rhythm, but they started to create chances with Luke Scope seeing his effort blocked by the keeper and Dan Carter having the rebound cleared at the expense of a corner.

Harris also threatened, while, at the other end, it needed a timely tackle by Liam Eagle to deny the visitors.

The Sumas went ahead before half-time following a smart move which saw Mark O'Connell send the ball over to Harris, who headed home.

In the first minute of the second half, Kidlington defender Richard Brooks was shown a straight red card for an elbow-led challenge and 10 minutes from time they were reduced to nine men when Julius Muraga was shown a second yellow card.

Harris scored again with a curling free-kick, while only the crossbar stopped O'Connell from putting his name on the score-sheet.

Fourth-in-the-table Sumas then beat the side one above them in the standings, Milton United, 2-0 on Tuesday, Harris and Chris Byrne on target.

They are home again this coming Saturday when the visitors are Long Crendon, currently seventh in the standings.

Next Tuesday (January 28), Wokingham make the long trip to Ardley United for a Reading Senior Cup tie (7.30pm).
