SOUTH Berkshire ended the first half of their Middx, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional Two campaign by winning 4-2 away to Banbury 2s in their re-arranged game played on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

Their eighth success in 11 games moved them on to 25 points, three fewer than leaders Sonning.

Ravi Patel bagged a hat-trick and now has seven goals for the season. Sam Fox-Harvey added the other, taking his personal goal-tally to 10, one behind teammate Tom King.

King has the same number goals as Sonning’s Ian Gallagher, both two behind the division’s top scorer, Nick Leach, who also plays for Sonning.

South Berkshire’s next league fixture is against Oxford Hawks 3s at the Cantley ground on January 11.

South Berkshire 2s also ended their 2019 games on a high, beating third-placed Wallingford 2s 4-1, leaving them unbeaten after 12 MBBO Division Two games.

Paul Kaplanski netted three of the goals and now has 16 for the season, with Michael Amor adding the other goal, taking his tally to five.

With second in the table, Amersham & Chalfont 2s slipping up 1-0 at West Hampstead 3s, South Berks have now opened up an 11-point lead at the top of the standings. Their next game is at home to Amersham & Chalfont on January 4.

In Division 3, South Berks 3s moved up to eighth place thanks to a 5-3 away win against Banbury 3s, their goals coming from Duncan Clarke (2), Tom Pullen, Tom Scott and Richard Wallace.

Clarke now has eight for the season.

Their next game is away to third-placed West Hampstead 4s on January 11.

South Berks 4s were beaten 2-1 at home by West Hampstead 7s, leaving them eighth in the table.

Their away game with Leighton Buzzard 3s, called off on November 30, will be played on January 4.

South Berks Ladies, having completed their fixtures for this year, return to Trysports Three Counties League Premier Division One action on January 11 when they host Banbury at Cantley Park.

The club’s other teams are also on a month’s mid-season break.
