KARL SIMS hit a sensational seven goals as Southcote Colts slammed Caversham AFC 10-1 in their Reading Sunday League match at Clayfield Copse, writes Dave Wright.

Gianni Massi, Kyrone Nelson and Felix Prudden completed the rout that saw Southcote close the gap on Premier Division leaders Maiden Plaice to just two points.

At the same time, Plaice were losing their 100 per-cent record, going down 3-2 at third-placed Loxwood Park Rangers with goals from Joe Danelian and Mikey Jones being cancelled out by Rangers’ duo James Turner and Michael Flatman.

Coley Park are fourth in the table following their 3-0 win over a 10-man Henley Town side.

Senior Division leaders Emmer Green leaders made it eight wins out of eight with a 3-1 success away to Richfield Rovers, Dan Donegan (2) and Ashley Searle getting the goals, with Craig Haylett pulling one back for the hosts.

Joe Haskell and Dan Nicholson netted as Tilehurst YM inflicted a 2-0 defeat on AFC Bradfield.

AFC Lowfield Green extended their lead at the top of Division Two to eight points following their 6-0 cruise at AFC Pangbourne, the goals coming from Lemar Maycock (2), Des Whittaker, Assad ul-Haq, George Dallarda and Davion Ingram.

Second-placed GC United were held to a 2-2 at home by Mortimer, who move up to fourth with games in hand over the sides above them. Lewis Butcher scored both Mortimer goals.

Rose & Thistle stayed third by defeating Emmer Green Reserves 2-0, their goals from Liam O’Reilly and substitute Aaron Attfield.

Table-topping Junction United made it nine wins out of 10 in Division Three by beating Sanctuary Strikers 4-0, while Borussia Teeth moved up to third with a 2-1 win at bottom club 116 Exiles Reserves, whose goal came from Tom Wilde.

In Division Four, a Michael Sheridan hat-trick helped third-placed Shinfield Rangers to a 6-1 win over Thames Valley Railway, with John Smiddy, Nick Bosson and Chris Douglas also on target. Brandon Lees netted the home side’s consolation goal.

There was also a treble for Bradley Ayisi as Reading West trounced FC Whitley Wood 9-0 to remain fourth in the table. Their other goals came from Stephen Turay (2), James Angira, George Kabba, Rohan Maynard and substitute Andy Wafula,

Several of the league’s sides were in Berks & Bucks Junior Trophy action last Sunday bidding for a place in the quarter-finals.

Reading FC Community Trust eased through by battering Bucklebury 8-0, while Wayback Wanderers also made further progress thanks to a 2-1 success at the expense of Bracknell Cavaliers with Mohammad Butt and substitute Jon Belgrave the men on target.

Woodley Saints Hobnobs sunk Hope & Anchor’s hopes by beating them 3-2 on penalties after the tie had ended 4-4.

Berkshire Dons made their exit from the competition, losing 6-5 at Kennington Athletic. All five goals came from different scorers - Bajram Doda, Alin Ifrim, Ramazan Lita, Dan Paladescu and Kapllan Sefullaj.
