MANAGER Roger Herridge believes his Binfield side are more than capable of establishing themselves among the top sides in the Hellenic League, writes Dave Wright.

"We are getting better all the time," he said following Saturday's excellent 4-2 win over Bishops Cleeve which lifted them to fifth in the table.

"I feel we are in a good place at the moment and we also have the FA Vase to look forward to in the New Year.

"We have got games in hand over the sides above us in the table and I don't see any team we need to be frightened of."

Josh Helmore bagged a brace as the Moles came from a goal down to beat a useful visiting side with George Short and Sean Moore adding a goal apiece.

"I was especially pleased to see Shorty score and what a goal it was," said Herridge after seeing the midfielder unleash a tremendous 25-yarder in the top right corner.

"He has missed a lot of football over the last few years due to injury, but is getting stronger and better all the time He is a real asset to us."

On a day when they were missing Jamie McClurg due to injury, fellow midfielder Tom Melledew raised his game with Herridge commenting: "It was a vintage display from him."

He also praised his defence which saw Elliott Legg turning in another solid performance just days after he had been taken ill, while Will Shaw also had a good game after taking over the right-back role at short notice.

Herridge continued: "I am not sure where Leggy got his energy from having been on his sickbed last Thursday, and Will also did really well, as did Liam (Gavin) and Calam (Gallimore) at the back.

"It was a good all-round team performance, although if there was a negative then it was giving two soft goals away. We have been conceding a few too many recently and that is an area where we need to improve.

"But we have a team capable of scoring goals and there were some good ones this afternoon, that was really pleasing."
