MARK Banks, Ban Law and Daniel Willis significantly enhanced Kingfisher A’s hopes of retaining the Reading & District League Division One title after all got maximums in a 10-0 win at Sonning Common & Peppard C.

Tilehurst Methodists A moved to within a point of Division Two leaders Our Lady of Peace A after winning their re-arranged match with Pangbourne WMC 8-2.

Eric Van Looy and Keith Winter were once again their top players with trebles.

Curzon Club C continue to struggle in Division Three after going down 7-3 to Tilehurst Methodists B, however Paul Treadgold is still playing well and hit a very fine hat-trick for the Curzon team.

As a result of beating Kingfisher G 8-2, Milestone B have moved into third place. Oliver Bonser was the star by gaining a maximum.

Holders Reading FC A are out of this seasons Lower Divisions knockout competition at the quarter-final stage, following a 6-3 defeat against Tidmarsh C, the first time they have not made the semi-finals for many years.

The pairing of Ian Wu and Simon Craig were unbeaten for Tidmarsh, and without dropping a game in the process.

Reading FC B also fell at this stage after a 7-2 loss at Springfield C, in a match where all sets were decided two-straight. Jason King and Oliver Delas with the maximum for Springfield.

Tidmarsh D complete the last-four line-up after a 6-3 win at Springfield D, three consecutive sets in the latter stages of the match tipping it in Tidmarsh’s favour. Terry Hardie and Dave Smith were the pick of the Tidmarsh pairing.

In the second round of the Team Handicap competition, Sonning Sports B took the first four sets against Sonning and Common and Peppard E, but then had to wait until set eight to clinch an extremely tight match 6-3. Keith Machin remained unbeaten.

A Clive Gold maximum proved in vain as a two-player Kingfisher D team fell short 5-4 at Tidmarsh A. Likewise, a Delas two-straight maximum for Springfield C was not enough to get them past Kingfisher G, Springfield going down 6-3.

Harry Bullock was a third player to claim a maximum for a losing side as Our Lady of Peace E were eased out 5-4 by Reading FC B.

OLOP D, who included the previous season's winning players, beat Springfield B 6-3. Mark Carless continuing last year’s good form with a maximum.

In another 6-3 scoreline, Sonning Sports C defeated Tidmarsh E.

After losing the first set Sonning reeled off the next five for a comfortable victory. John Scott with the maximum backed up by a good double from Mo Cook.
