Reading supporters have taken to Twitter in an emotional wave of thanks for Jose Gomes.
Gomes has been sacked as Royals manager after a poor run of results have seen Reading plummet into the Championship drop zone.
However, Gomes was very popular among the fanbase at the Mad Stad and Royals fans have shown their gratitude to the Portuguese:
It says it all that the vast majority of Reading fans are against the sacking of José Gomes and his name was still being sung in his final game. That is a very rare at this club.

Obrigado José 🇵🇹 #readingfc pic.twitter.com/gmCP0wz9Yq
Jose helped give the club back to the fans when we thought it couldn’t get any worse. If it’s true and he has gone then we want to say thank you for keeping us up. #ReadingFC

Such a top bloke. #ObrigadoJose 🔵⚪️🔵 pic.twitter.com/urj7DVnMz4
Absolutely gutted to see Gomes leave. The man turned the club around last season and deserved the chance to turn it round again and build a top team here. Sacked far too early. Obrigado Jose🇵🇹 #readingfc

This feels like a breakup. I will forever cherish this man, he gave me my excitement and passion for reading back. He connected us to the club and he saved us from relegation. #ObrigadoJosé pic.twitter.com/kY7csZ4JME

Thank you José for reestablishing my love for #readingfc - record was far from great but there were flashes of brilliance during your stay (Cardiff H) and if a certain Romanian had buried a couple chances you’d probably still be with us. #ObrigadoJosé 🇵🇹 ANYONE but Mark Hughes

Loved him to bits, the passion he had for this football club. We will never have a manager that the fans have connected with so much. All down hill from here in my opinion. #ReadingFC #ObrigadoJose pic.twitter.com/QJ48AWexwd
