BRACKNELL Town keeper Mark Scott scored a sensational goal, only to make a rare error and concede the equaliser to Westfield last Wednesday, writes Dave Wright.

And it got worse for the skipper as he could not stop the visitors from going on to triumph 2-1, so becoming the first away side to secure three league points at Larges Lane since the 3G pitch was installed three years ago.

In front of a crowd of just over 250, Scott became the hero just six minutes into this South Central Division match.

He took a free-kick not far out of his penalty area and belted a high ball downfield which caught his opposing number, Gary Ross, off his line on its way into the net for the first goal of his career.

Ross had been more alert shortly before to push away a shot from Shane Cooper-Clark.

It was a useful start by the Robins against the table-topping side, who had won 8-1 at Hertford the previous Saturday.

But midway through the opening half, Scott failed to deal with a high ball and could only palm it down into the path of George Firth who brought the scores level.

Charlie Losasso shot wide from 20 yards, but neither side created many first-half chances with the defences generally on top in a fast-paced game.

The tempo was just as high in the second half with Town's midfield driving their side on, with Max Herbert being particularly industrious.

There was also a new face wideout with Tauren Roberts making his debut, the 28-year-old Londoner having previously played for a number of clubs, including Walton Casuals, Hampton & Richmond, Tooting & Mitcham and Salisbury.

Bracknell and Westfield were both committed to attacking with Robins looking slightly the more threatening going forward.

However, they were caught short at the back when Aaron Watson threaded the ball through the middle and Ejlia Simpson had time to pick his spot as the advancing Scott committed himself to give Westfield a 54th-minute lead slightly against the run of play.

A little over 10 minutes later, Town were unlucky not to have equalised when Seb Bowerman crashed a shot against the crossbar after good work down the left by Roberts.

Further dangerous balls were drilled across the Westfield area and one should have brought an equaliser after 85 minutes. The ball landed at the feet of substitute Ousman Darboe less than eight yards out, but he could only shoot weakly straight at Ross.

Bracknell would have deserved the point, but nothing more.

The Woking-based visitors looked a very decent side and this was their fourth away win from as many games.

On Saturday, Bracknell came-from-behind to secure a point with a 2-2 draw at Chalfont St Peter.

Kofi Quartey gave the home side a first-minute lead and went on to double their advantage just after the quarter-of-an-hour mark.

Nathan Minhas replied almost immediately, with Dan Bayliss levelling matters in the 36th minute.

Both sides had chance throughout the remainder of the game, but neither were able to find the back of the net.

Bracknell rounded off a busy week with a 4-0 Velocity Cup win at FC Romania yesterday, Charlie Losasso with a brace and Seb Bowerman and Ousman Darboe with the others.
