ASCOT United cruised past fellow Combined Counties Premier Division side Frimley Green 3-0 in the FA Vase second qualifying round and will be away to Southern Counties East League Division One side club Sporting Club Thamesmead in the first round on October 12.

New signing Max Austin soon made his mark for the Yellamen last Saturday. Put through by James Knight after he had won a challenge, the former Loughborough Students first-team and Corinthian Casuals player rounded keeper Sean Fallon before firing home.

It was Knight who doubled his side's advantage by finishing off an excellent move involving Usman Lalustani, Elliot Carey, Ethan Burden and Harry Laflin, the midfielder lashing a ferocious effort past Fallon.

James Richardson saw his effort fly over the home bar before Louis Bouwers had his header cleared off the line before half-time.

But Richardson was not to be denied, producing an exquisite effort from the edge of the penalty area to make it 3-0 on 56 minutes.

Richardson might have scored again, while substitute Jon Bennett had a couple of chances, firstly from a tight angle and then scooping a shot wide.

The same two clubs will meet at the same venue next Tuesday (7.45pm) in the second round of the Cherry Red Records Premier Cup, but before that they visit Banstead this Saturday looking to make it six wins out of six in Combined Counties League fixtures.

Wokingham & Emmbrook went out of the Vase, losing 1-0 at home to Thornbury Town in an all-Hellenic League tie.

In front of another healthy attendance at Lowther Road, the Gloucestershire side had more possession in the first half, although the best chances fell to the Sumas.

The tie was decided by a late goal from Craig Lancastle, who finished off good work down his side's right flank.

Wokingham pushed hard for the equaliser with Liam Eagle going closest to getting it, but the Division One West side held on for the victory they just about deserved.

Wokingham & Emmbrook visit Slough Heating Laurencians in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy on Saturday (3pm) before visiting Kidlington Development in Division One East of the Hellenic League next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Eversley & California, without a game last Saturday, will be taking to the air this weekend as they visit Jersey Bulls in the Combined Counties League.

It will be a tough task for the Boars as the Channel Islanders have won all seven of their Division One games so far and are setting a strong pace at the top of the table.

Having been due to play Sheerwater in the Southern Combination Cup last night (Tuesday), Eversley have another tie next Tuesday (7.45pm) when they host Balham in the Cherry Reds Premier Cup.

Sandhurst Town, who are second in the table, are also at home in the same competition on Tuesday, with Cove the visitors, but before then they return to league action at Bedfont & Feltham this coming Saturday.
