Dan Lincoln led Finchampstead to an eight-wicket win at Slough in their last Home Counties Premier League game of the season.

After the home side had been bowled out for 158, Lincoln hit an excellent 78, his highest Division One score of the season, as his side cruised home in less than 20 overs.

Relegated Slough elected to bat first, but were soon in trouble as seamer Connor Corlet bowled opener Raj Baig (7) in the third over.

Skipper James Woodford had his opposite number, Goutham Shrikrishna (13), caught at mid-off by debutant Henry Leach and then the free-scoring Saif Zaib (15) was taken by Greg Smith at cover off the bowling of Corlet, both wickets going down with the total on 42.

A 63-run stand between Harish Kakani (40) and Daniyal Akhtar (39) took Slough to 105-4 with 25 overs completed, but after that wickets fell regularly and Slough were all out in 42.1 overs.

Spinner Jason Soames finished with 3-23 from 10 overs, Josh Lincoln 3-33 from 6.1 overs and Corlet 3-50 from 10.

Finches openers Smith and Dan Lincoln both set about the bowling from the start, taking 60 runs off the first eight overs.

Lincoln reached his half-century – his seventh in the league this season – off just 35 balls in 50 minutes, while Smith brought up his 50 off 48 balls in 83 minutes.

Their partnership came to an end at 131 after 15 overs, when Lincoln was caught at long-off, his 78 having come off 52 deliveries and which included two sixes and 11 fours.

Soames made just four before being bowled, but Smith remained unbeaten on 50 and Toby Albert on six as Finch sealed their victory in the 20th over.

Their fifth win of the season left them with a final placing of sixth on 213 points.

Dan Lincoln finished the season third in the batting averages with a total of 643 at an average of 42.86.

Despite playing in only nine games, Aussie paceman Corlet was the most successful Finch bowler, finishing 15th in the league list with 22 wickets at an average of 17.18.
