HE may not be as fast as he once was, but Peter Rutt still enjoys playing football – at the age of 90.

He gets his kicks with Bracknell Town Walking Football Club, who hold regular sessions at Bracknell Leisure Centre.

And there was a surprise for the club's oldest member last Wednesday when Rutt was presented with a signed football and a ball-shaped chocolate cake to mark his 90th birthday.

He is among the club's 110 members given the opportunity to play on Monday and Wednesday evenings (10.30am to 12pm) and on Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm, with all sessions on a 3G surface.

There is also a separate group for those who prefer to play at an even slower pace, which is ideal for newcomers or those recovering from injury or illness.

For those wanting a bit more, the club has teams in the Surrey and Thames Valley Leagues, as well as competing in tournaments and festivals.

In addition to the football, players can enjoy breakfast and post-session meals, while the club boasts a thriving social scene which includes evening concerts, quiz competitions, skittles and footgolf.
