EVERSLEY & California went down 3-0 to a talented Walton & Hersham side in their opening Combined Counties League Division One game.

They were behind from the 10th minute when James Robertson turned in a cross and that was still the score at half-time.

The Boars started to improve and Jemel Johnson hit the bar with Jack Kittlesen also going close with a header.

It was against the run of play when the hosts scored their second, but they then started to dominate the game and were rewarded with a third goal.

ASCOT United started the season well, winning 2-0 at Cobham in their first-ever Combined Counties League Premier Division match.

Following a successful pre-season which saw them win six of their eight games while keeping five clean sheets, the Yellaman showed confidence from the kick-off and it didn't take them long to open the scoring.

Chris Ellis produced one of his long trademark throw-ins which led to Harry Laflin planting a header past keeper Lee Norman.

United enjoyed the better of the first 45 minutes and could easily have been further ahead before half-time.

But Cobham started the second strongly with keeper Sam Gray called into action, making one particularly smart save from Chris Davis.

Jamie Tompkins' men, however, looked dangerous on the break and Louis Bouwers saw his looping header strike the foot of the post before Jonny Denton doubled their advantage in the 74th minute, having started the move himself.

Ascot, who visited Egham last night (Tuesday), visit Premier Division rivals Badshot Lea at Westfield Lane in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup this coming Saturday.

After a goalless first half, the visitors took a 71st-minute lead through Darius Haravi, but the Fizzers hit back with Mitch Cooper seeing his effort superbly saved by the keeper before Hinds earned his side a deserved point by turning home Luke Cox's free-kick in the 78th minute.

Striker Bradley Brown was their man of the match.

This coming Saturday they face Kensington & Ealing Borough at Leatherhead's Fetcham Grove ground.

WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook start a new chapter in their long history on Friday when they stage their first Hellenic League game since the floodlights and stand were installed at their Lowther Road ground in Emmbrook (7.45pm).

And with AFC Aldermaston the visitors, they are expecting a big crowd for this Division One East fixture.
