WINDSOR manager Mick Woodham insists there is no reason to be disappointed despite suffering a 5-2 defeat against Bracknell Town in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, writes Rob Stevens.

Bracknell, from the Isthmian League South Central Division, took a clear lead into the break at Stag Meadow thanks to a goal from Shane Cooper-Clarke plus a Nathan Minhas brace.

The home team pulled one after half-time through George Dawson-Clarke before Cooper-Clarke was again on target for the Robins.

Windsor

midfielder Ted Woodisse then hit the back of the net for his fourth goal in two matches, but Bracknell had the final say when substitute Nicholas Bignall netted their fifth.

Woodham admits that his young side made mistakes during

the friendly

but he is confident they will learn something from it with the start to the new season less than two weeks away.

The Windsor boss told the Observer: "There's no reason to be disappointed and I was quite surprised with us at times.

"We said at half-time to try and look after the ball a little better because our ball retention was below standard in the first half. We got ourselves into good areas, those that we wanted to penetrate, but we didn't make good decisions or keep the ball. A combination of both let us down a little bit so we didn't really get a chance to build a foundation.

"We gave away two silly goals, simple as that. Every goal was avoidable which we had a word about at half-time.

"The ball retention was better in the first 15 minutes of the second half. We got the ball into the right areas again but we kept it and had an end product. We scored two decent goals, the second one from Ted in particular. It was well-worked and well-deserved, so a good goal.

"We made some changes but we kept at it and had to work hard. We frustrated them a little bit at times and our shape was excellent.

"Yes we made mistakes but we had kids out there who will take something away from it because if they don't it's a waste of time. I'm fairly sure that they would've learnt something about themselves, so I'm pleased.

"Our intention was to try and play football, even in the last 15-20 minutes when it didn't always come off. We were still driving, trying to get some purpose with the ball and get into the right areas. It just didn't quite come off for us. Bracknell are a good side, but our intention was to play football and I thought we done that."

Windsor had earlier impressed during a 7-1 victory over Wantage Town in a pre-season friendly match at Stag Meadow on Saturday.

Woodisse was the star on show with his second-half hat-trick, with further goals from Dean Qevani, substitute Dawson-Clarke and Trevor Mutero.

Woodham commented: "We dominated the game and played good football, not fantastic but it was good. It was sensible and smart at times.

"That's where we fell short a little bit in the first half on Tuesday. We didn't play smart and good football, but we did in the second half.

"We were in control from start to finish on Saturday. We took our chances and everyone worked hard with some big performances, plus we got to know each other.

"There wasn't a lot not to like about Saturday really. I enjoyed watching it and it was fully deserved."
