THE Holt finished top of the form in the girls' competition at the Reading and District Schools Athletic League Under 14s finals day at Palmer Park.

Wokingham's finest won the A final by a comfortable margin, while providing the best overall performance in four of the nine events thanks to Tomi Adejuwon in the 75m, 600m runner Amelia Whiteley, long jumper Sophie Carless and their relay quartet.

The boys' A final went to Blue Coat A with their B team taking the C final honours.

Trinity were one of four schools who finished joint second in the A final with 49 points, but produced the competition's fastest time in the relay in addition to the best performances in the 100m thanks to Aaron White and Oliver Agar in the shot.

League secretary Brian Day commented: "I would like to thank all the competitors and staff members who contributed to the enjoyment and success of another year.

"Particular thanks must go to the non-teaching and retired teaching colleagues who have given the time and commitment in special roles led by Jill Wright, Stella and Brian Bacon and Sarah Ball, along with timekeepers Carolyn Walker, Mark Balchin and Alan Hatch. They contributed enormously to the success of the competition."

Wright was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours list last month for her services to athletics.
