READING FC Deaf were crowned FA People’s Cup Premiership Disability champions after a thrilling day of football at St. George’s Park, the home of England’s national teams.
Reading FC Deaf, who won two regional qualifiers in February and March to reach the tournament at St. George’s Park, beat Sutton United U’s in a thrilling final to become champions of the nation’s biggest and most inclusive five-a-side football competition.
Daniel Roke, Disability Programme Manager at Reading FC said, “We just want to talk about the competition really, how great it is to be inclusive and the benefits it has for clubs in the community.
"The FA have put this fantastic competition on and it just shows that disability isn’t a barrier, which is great.”
More than 5,000 teams took part in The FA People’s Cup this season with more than 27,000 participants playing across 15 categories.
Reading FC Deaf will now be preparing for a special day at The Emirates FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Watford on 18 May, where they will lift their FA People’s Cup trophy on the hallowed Wembley turf at half-time.
