BINFIELD FC Development gave manager Ross Weatherstone his first silverware following a dramatic 5-4 penalty shoot-out win against Westfield Reserves in the Suburban League Cup final.

The two sides had earlier played out an entertaining draw, but it was the Moles who would go on to lift the Mike Bidmead Trophy.

Jamie Griggs put Binfield ahead in the eighth minute following a corner, but Calvin Camara equalised for Westfield from a free-kick six minutes before the interval.

Griggs restored his side's lead two minutes later, only for Kareem Foster to make it 2-2 on 67 minutes.

After 90 minutes, the game went straight to penalties with Binfield winning 5-4 against the Suburban Central side, goalkeeper Sonny Wheeler pulling off a wonderful save to be his side's match-winner.

Meanwhile, a depleted Binfield side were beaten 4-1 at Longlevens in their final Hellenic League Premier Division fixture last Monday, leaving them ninth in the table, two places lower than the previous season.

After Moles skipper James Knight had gone close to opening the scoring, a mistake in defence allowed the hosts to take the lead through Jay Malshanskyj and Jonty Welch made it 2-0 before half-time.

Malshanskyj extended the lead and after Josh Howell had pulled one back from the penalty spot, the striker set up a late fourth goal for fellow Forest Green Rovers loanee Lewis Spurrier.
