WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook climbed to third in Division One East of the Hellenic League following their 3-1 win over Woodley United at Larges Lane.

It was an excellent all-round performance by Dan Bateman's men as they bounced back from a midweek 2-0 defeat at Didcot Town Development.

Josh Harris, having already gone close along with Ellis Day, opened the scoring following a powerful run and shot, and he set up the second for Day.

By this time Woodley had been reduced to 10 men with Pablo Fernandez shown a straight red card.

The hosts continued to look dangerous and Day had an effort cleared off the line before Harris extended their lead, both opportunities being set up by the lively Elliott Rushforth, who was unlucky himself when hitting the post.

Despite being a man down, United didn't give up and Matt Lashock struck the woodwork.

This Saturday, the Sumas are home to Thames Valley Premier League side Burghfield in their delayed Reading Senior Cup tie.
