EVERSLEY & California pushed second-in-the-table Bedfont & Feltham all the way before losing 2-1 in their Combined Counties League Division 1 match at The Orchard on Saturday.

All the goals came in the first half. Ashley Hitchinson opened the scoring for the hosts with a lot shot past keeper Charlie York.

Connor Allston headed in a corner to bring the scores level, only for Jamie Pierce to head in the winner.

Bedfont also had the ball in the net on two other occasions, but they were ruled out for offside, while York pulled off an outstanding save to prevent another goal.

The Boars worked hard to get an equaliser, but Bedfont held out for the win.

Boars manager Ellis Woods, above, revealed on Monday he had decided to leave his position.

He tweeted: “It’s with regret that I’ve decided to resign from my position as first team manager.

“I wish all involved with the club the best for the future and appreciate everyone for their efforts on and off the field during my time.”

Eversley, who remain 13th in the table, are now eagerly looking forward to their derby against eight-placed Sandhurst at the ESA ground this Saturday.

The Fizzers were forced to call off their home fixture with British Airways last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch.

Wokingham & Emmbrook

Wokingham & Emmbrook, who were due to host Abingdon United in the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup last night (Tuesday), have an attractive Hellenic League fixture this coming Saturday when they take on runaway Division 1 East leaders Burnham at Larges Lane.

The visitors have won 10 of their 12 games so far, including all three away, and will provide a tough test for Dan Bateman’s men who are ninth in the table.
