BRACKNELL RFC picked up a third South West Premier win in five games with a 27-17 victory at home to Exmouth.

The visitors started well and took an early lead when fly-half Tom Whelan brushed off a would-be tackler before crossing and converting his own try.

Nick Headley added a second to make it 12-0 after 20 minutes, but Bracknell hit back when Peceli Nacamavuto cut a line through the Exmouth defence to score under the posts.

Vic Hardwicke added the extras before his side levelled the scores before half-time, Gabe Hills finishing off a fine backs move out wide.

Bracknell kicked off the second half and picked up where they left off in the first half.

On 50 minutes, a catch-and-drive off a line-out, coming from a penalty for a high tackle, saw Ken Dowding bulldozer his way over the Exmouth try line to give Bracknell the lead.

As the game moved into the final quarter and with Exmouth open side Connor O’shaughnessy in the sin bin, Vic Hardwicke extended Bracknell's lead with a penalty before the hosts secured their try bonus-point.

Quick ball from a line-out in the Exmouth half allowed Nacamavuto to cut an exquisite looping reverse run to find Hills in space for him to dot down for his second try of the afternoon.

The conversion from Hardwicke was good to make it 27-12, and while Exmouth managed a late try, they could not come back further.

Bracknell climb to 10th in the table and seven points clear of the drop zone ahead of a trip to Ivybridge on Saturday.
