BINFIELD FC have been left disappointed after learning Sean Moore has joined Bracknell Town on a permanent basis, writes Dave Wright.

Two weeks ago manager Roger Herridge agreed to the forward signing dual-registration forms with the Bostik League side when they found themselves short of forwards for their game against Hanwell.

He felt he was doing the Robins a favour as the Larges Lane club have been allowing him to use their second-choice keeper, Chris Grace, and early in the season he was ‘loaned’ Dave Hancock and Jamie McClurg for an FA Cup tie.

Moore was among Town’s substitutes against Hanwell as well as at Cheshunt last Tuesday.

But late last week Herridge learned Moore had decided to stay with Bracknell.

“Obviously, I am disappointed,” said the Moles manager. “But there is always a risk that something like this would happen.

“However, it’s not my way to stop players from progressing if the opportunity arises. Sean has been a fantastic player for us over the past few seasons and has the potential to do well at a higher level.”

Grace was not available for last Friday’s game when the Moles lost 2-1 at home to Flackwell Heath.

His absence meant a first-team debut for the club’s development team keeper Sonny Wheeler, who had a trial with National League South side Wealdstone during the summer.

Ian Davies put the hosts ahead with a superbly-taken goal in the 18th minute following Josh Howell’s cross, and his side deserved to be in front at half-time.

Jack Taylor equalised after 18 minutes and in a game which swung from end-to-end, a draw looked the fairest result.

However, six minutes from time Flackwell’s Tyler Gregory floated a long, high cross towards the keeper and, as he back-pedalled, the teenager slipped up and the ball dropped into the net.

Binfield slip to 15th in the table, but with games in hand over all the sides above them.

This Saturday they are away to Brimscombe & Thrupp in the third round of the Bluefin Sports Cup and next Monday (7.45pm) visit Reading City in the league at Rivermoor Stadium.
