MATTHEW Bradbrook netted his fourth goal of the season as he fired Greyfriars to within three points of the top of the table after they edged out the current leaders, Tilehurst Albion, 1-0.

The sides played out a goalless opening 45 minutes, but Bradbrook's second-half strike was enough to give Greyfriars – who have two games in hand on the table-toppers – the win.

Second-placed Bethel United continued their good start after a 7-0 thrashing of West Reading.

Akeem Roach was on fire as he netted five times for the home side – who led 6-0 at the break – with Danny Lynch also scoring a brace for Bethel.

Beacon Church and YMCA Newbury shared the spoils with an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Newbury dominated the early stages of the game and took the lead midway through the first half through Pat Nelligan, the same player doubling their advantage shortly after half-time.

However, Jordan McGill halved the deficit with a neat finish in the corner, and Beacon’s late pressure paid off as Jon Duffy tapped in from close range after a Rich Lyons header had struck the woodwork.

Barkham Athletic made it four wins from five games as they beat Brookside St Laurence 7-4 in an entertaining match.

Dom Howard netted four, with Matt Bacon bagging a brace, and a goal from Toby Smilie proved to be enough for Barkham, who moved up to fourth in the table.

Harry Parker, Kieran Stubbs, and Jonny Hare were on target for the visitors, who stay 11th.

Reading Saints earned their second win of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Wycliffe Wanderers.

Goals from Adrian Kearsey and Anton Maze proved to be enough for the eighth-placed Saints, who completed back-to-back wins.

Marc Overson scored the only goal for Wycliffe, who are still searching for their first points of the season.

Norreys lost 1-0 to Wycliffe United to see the visitors leapfrog their opponents to ninth.
