PAUL Clement believes Reading FC have regained their mojo – but admitted they should have taken all three points at Brentford on Saturday.

Royals stretched their unbeaten away run to four matches with a lively 2-2 draw at Griffin Park on Saturday.

Clement’s men became the first side to take points off the Bees at home this season after an encouraging display in west London.

However, it could have been an even better day for the visitors had they managed to hold on to a 2-1 lead going into injury time and with Brentford down to 10 men following Said Benrahma’s late red card.

Bees, though, dominated the 10 minutes of time added on and snatched a point thanks to Yoann Barbet’s last-gasp equaliser.

It was a frustrating finish for the Royals who had fallen behind to Neal Maupay’s opener but then led 2-1 with a sixth of the season for Jon Dadi Bodvarsson plus a John Swift free-kick.

Clement admitted: "We were leading 2-1 and the 90 minutes are up so we come away disappointed not to have taken all three points , particularly because they had 10 men on the field at the end.

"But the momentum shifted to them, even though they had 10 men, they pushed and pushed at the end.

“Brentford are a good side, they use the ball really well and the sending off near the end didn't seem to affect them.”

However, Clement was pleased with his team’s display overall, stating: "I'm very proud of the effort the boys put in, they put in a massive performance.

“It was filled with passion and I think you can see a mental shift in this team. The confidence is back and that is pleasing.

"They showed a good reaction after going 1-0 down early on. We know that Brentford are a really good attacking side and yet I thought for the entirety of the game we were very much in it.”

Reading had a shocking start to the Championship campaign, losing their first four home fixtures for the first time in the club’s history.

But they broke that depressing run with a 3-0 victory over Hull City last time out at Madejski Stadium and have climbed out of the bottom three.

Clement, whose side host QPR tomorrow night (8pm ko) added "I think we have turned a corner but we've got to keep it going because it can soon go back in the other direction.

“After our win against Preston we took a backward step. We have got to make sure we keep taking forward steps.

"The points tally over the last four games is good. And when you get points away from home at difficult places like Brentford, you've got to back it up at home.

"So we need to repeat the performance we put in against Hull when we welcome QPR to Madejski Stadium."

Mo Barrow, Swift and Meite all face fitness tests before the QPR clash as all three picked up knocks at Brentford.
