PAUL Clement has told his Reading FC players to channel their anger into beating Hull City at Madejski Stadium tomorrow (3pm ko).

Royals have lost all four league games at Madejski Stadium this season – their worst start to a campaign in the club’s history.

The latest setback came on Wednesday night when Clement’s men lost 2-1 to Norwich City for the Canaries’ first win on the road since January.

It leaves Royals 22nd in the table and struck in the Championship relegation zone and in desperate need of a change of fortunes.

Now Clement is hoping his players will take their frustrations out on former boss Nigel Adkins’ Hull City this weekend.

The Tigers have also had a poor start to the season and lie in 19th place on seven points – two more than Reading.

"We've got to get out there again, and quick,” admitted Clement. "We've got to roll our sleeves up and get on with it.

“We've got to be tough and the players have got to go out on the pitch more determined and a little bit angry in how we approach the game to try and get a result.

"You have got to pick up wins at home because it’s so hard away.

“We've had a good win and a couple of draws on the road, so that's not too bad.

“But four games and we've lost them all at home. We've got to put it right and we've got to put it right on Saturday."

Bracknell News: Nigel Adkins has said sorry to Reading's fans after his team were beaten 6-0 by Peterborough,

Former Reading boss, Nigel Adkins.

Tuesday’s defeat gives Clement licence to change his squad – with frustrated supporters calling for the likes of Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Modou Barrow and Josh Sims to be handed starts.

Reading are not without their injury concerns with Vito Mannone, David Myler, Jordan Obita and Adrian Popa among the casualties.

Long-term injury victims Garath McCleary and Callum Harriott are nearing returns, but this weekend’s game is likely to come too early.

Tomorrow’s clash marks Adkins’ first return to the Madejski Stadium since his departure in December 2014.

He was in charge of Royals for 21 months during the turbulent ownership of Russian businessman, Anton Zingarevich.

During Adkins’ reign Royals dropped out of the Premier League and encountered major financial difficulties which are still having an impact to this day.

But the 53-year-old ex-Southampton boss is looking forward to his visit to the Madejski Stadium.

He said: “I loved my time at Reading and I’d like to think we did a really good job there, especially when you consider how close the club came to going to the wall.

“We kept the spirits high and played with the youth. We didn’t moan about things. There was lots going on behind the scenes, but we got on with it.”

He added: “I still keep an eye out for them and whenever I’ve gone back I’ve always been made to feel very welcome.

“Reading was always a club with good people. I noticed that straight away. I’ll look forward to going back.”

Adkins has a selection headache of his own, having been forced to make five changes for the 2-1 defeat at Wigan on Tuesday night, with the likes of Dan Batty, Reece Burke and Todd Kane among those injured.
