DEFENDING Premier Division champions Reading YMCA have risen to the top of the early-season table with a 4-1 win at Burghfield and a 2-2 draw at Marlow United, writes Richard Ashton.

Jordan Cox, Lorenzo Medford, Ryan Kingsbeer and Ryan Adams netted for the Young Men against Burghfield, with Tom Maars getting the consolation.

Kingsbeer and Cox were also on target against United, who had to settle for a draw despite having gone 2-0 up thanks to goals from Chris Hurst and Alan McKie.

Mortimer enjoyed a productive week with a brace of 3-0 successes against Reading City U23 and Wokingham & Emmbrook Reserves.

Craig Haylett and Joe Webb strikes plus an own goal accounted for City, with Danny Seaward, Jacob Bailey and James Croft on target against Sumas.

Goals from Jack Alder and Joe Newman helped Cookham Dean past Wraysbury Village 2-0, though they then lost 3-1 to Westwood United.

Woodcote Stoke Row had previously come-from-behind to beat Westwood 4-1, Scott Warwick putting the visitors in front before Simon Grant, Ed Gadd and substitute Ryan Corbett (2) sealed victory for Sam Tucker’s men against his former club.

Richings Park lost 4-0 at home to Marlow United as two Chris Hurst penalties and goals from Qwamani Thomas and Gary Homes did the damage, though Park did pick up their first points with a 3-1 win at home to Berks County on Saturday. Brad Cunningham, Andy Watts and Daniel Sanchez scored for Park.

A Musa Drammeh double helped Woodley United Royals beat Reading City U23 2-0, but they were walloped 9-0 by Wraysbury, Dean Papali bagging five, George Dewhurst a double and Gary Ashton and Ben White one apiece.

Replacement Marco De Souza grabbed a late winner for Wokingham & Emmbrook Reserves in their 3-2 triumph at Burghfield FC, Ellis Day and James Clark also on target for Sumas as Billy Margetts and Chris Ward netted for the hosts.

In Division One, Ellis Willett and Richard Johnson scored twice in Finchampstead’s 4-0 win at White Eagles, while a Kamran Khan double and a George Dallarda strike gave FC Imaan Lions a 3-0 success at Eldon Celtic.

Simeon Mitchell-Gumbs and Harry Baker netted in Cookham Dean Reserves 2-1 win at Maidenhead Town, Paidashe Kujinga on target for the hosts.

Rotherfield United downed Hurst 3-0, and Newbury overcame Reading YMCA Rapids 2-0.
