BERKSHIRE champion Sylvia Pearce performed admirably before being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the National Two Wood Singles championship at Leamington Spa.

The Wokingham BC member won her opening game 17-13, before squeezing through the second round 14-13.

In the last 16 she prevailed 16-9, but her run was ended by England international Amy Gowshall 16-7.

Gowshall went on to win the final and become national champion.

In the triples, Berkshire’s Bet Aubrey, Fran Oakes and Sandra Harrrison reached the last 16, while Morgan Merryweather lost 21-18 to Gowshall in the quarter-finals of the Champion of Champions.

Caroline Mabley and Lynn Watkins reached the last eight of the women’s senior pairs, and Lloyd Sabatini made the semi-finals of the men’s junior singles where he narrowly lost 21-19 to Anthony Booth-Young.

Wokingham won back the ‘WokCam’ Cup by completing victory against Camberley.

Having won the first leg 92-86 at Camberley, they overcame their opponents 116-103 for an aggregate 208-189 win.

Wokingham ladies narrowly beat Bracknell 45-43 in a friendly.

The top triple for Wokingham was skipped by Janette Kane along with, Joy Deeves and Cathy Thomas who won by five shots.
