BRACKNELL Athletic Club have recorded their second victory of the Southern Athletic League Division One season.

The senior squad beat off their rivals to win on their home track at John Nike Stadium.

Bracknell finished with 217.5 points ahead of league leaders Chelmsford (212.5), Norwich (200) and Reading (130).

Bracknell’s male jumping team were outstanding, taking maximum points.

Peter Marlow and youth Tom Law, making his debut, won both strings of the high jump.

Marlow, this time paired with A string Luke Batup, beat all before them in the triple jump. Batup equaled his own club record in the triple, having earlier added 34cm to his club record in the long jump.

Where Batup won the junior competition, the senior title went to team mate Robbie Wilde.

In the throwing events, Robert Mungham came third in the hammer, as did team captain, Jan Drzewiecki, in the discus.

Charlie Ashdown-Taylor threw the furthest javelin for Bracknell for eight years to win the A string, with Sam Russell second in the B.

There were three individual wins on the track.

Matthew Buckner, fresh from winning the 200m gold at the English Schools Championships in Birmingham, landed the 100m title.

Youth Luke Turner, another Birmingham contestant, won the senior 400m race, while Scottish international, Shaun Wyllie, won the 1,500m on his first club appearance for four years.

Moses Tonade was second in the 100m, as was Oliver Hall in the one-lap dash. Marcus Bailey achieved a pb in the 200m, as did Sam Rimmer in both of the two hurdle races.

In the ladies section, Rebecca Watkins gained second place in the senior short sprints, her partner, Abbie Sillett, winning both the junior 100m and 200m races.

Lottie Ambridge and Kaya Sittampalam Main managed the same in the 800m races, while Lara Croft and Elena Jones repeated the trick in the 1,500m steeplechase.

Hanna Roberts and Emma Morris secured a second-place double in the 400m and Abbie Jones finished runner up in the senior 400m hurdles.

On the field, Hope Boraman and Abbie Jones took the winners’ rostrum in the triple jump, Abigail Miller won the javelin and Phoebe Fenwick the shot putt, with Mia Eldridge second in the B string.

Isobel Deacon won the junior long jump.

Yasmin Grosvenor came second in the senior high jump, while partner Layla Beaud won the B string and Lerato Mokhothu came second in the junior discus.

Missing the action on Sunday was Amelia Wills following her 1,500m steeplechase at the English School Championships.

Bracknell won both short sprint relays with Imogene Cook, Phoebe Fenwick, Rebecca Watkins and Abbie Sillett set a new junior club record in the 4x100m.

The squad of Hannah Roberts, Rebecca, Emma Morris and Phobe Fenwick set another junior record, taking second place in the 4x400m relay.

The male squad of Robbie Wilde, Moses Tonade, Andre Gennace and Matt Buckner won the 4x100m relay by some distance.
